The time has come. You’ve been thinking about seeing a Homeopath for a while, but now what? How do you choose?
You may have done a Google search or looked on Facebook Homeopathy groups and seen names of well-known Homeopaths (I’m often in those groups too, offering free advice when time allows).
But how do you choose from the sea of Homeopaths available - locally and remotely online?
Many people assume they should look for the most experienced practitioner, the one with the most impressive website, or the one with hundreds of five-star reviews.
And yes, those things can be helpful.
But in my opinion, they’re not the most important thing. Of course, choosing a Homeopath who is qualified is a given, and with all the new Homeopathy schools now churning out lots of Homeopaths, it pays to do your due diligence on that one.
In my opinion, and with almost 20 years of experience under my belt, I think the most important thing to look for is curiosity. Look for a Homeopath who is deeply curious about you.
They need to understand:
Who are you?
Who were you before the illness/trauma/event happened?
How did it change you?
What makes your symptoms better or worse?
How do you respond to stress?
What are your fears?
What gives you energy?
What changed before your health changed?
What is your body trying to communicate?
You should leave your consultation feeling heard, not hurried. I recently spoke to a client who - before working with me for herself - had been using another Homeopath for her son.
She told me that after that consultation, she felt misunderstood, judged, dismissed and hopeless.
That is not the aim!
The Homeopathic consultation itself should be a healing experience. Often clients say to me that they feel better simply from speaking with me, having an impartial, empathetic ear to really hear them, often for the first time in their life.
Other things to consider when choosing a Homeopath:
They explain things clearly
They don’t make unrealistic promises or guarantee results
They continue learning (Homeopathy is a lifelong study, with new remedies and methodologies, philosophies etc coming out all the time).
Very important: you feel comfortable. Working with a Homeopath is a little like working with a counsellor. There will be times when we may need to discuss situations or times in your life that were hard. The more you can open up and trust your Homeopath, the better your healing outcomes will be.
Two people may have identical qualifications, but one just gets you.
At the end of the day, you’re not just choosing someone to prescribe the right remedy. You’re choosing someone to walk alongside you on your healing journey.
I am now accepting new clients for the end of 2026.
