Let’s be honest - sometimes “self-care” can feel like just another thing to add to your already overflowing to-do list.
🕯 Light the candle.
🍵 Sip the herbal tea.
🛁 Take the magnesium bath.
📸 Post it to prove it happened…..
And somehow, you’re still frazzled and low-key resenting your essential oils.
But true self-care? It’s not about ticking boxes.
It’s about returning to yourself. Softening. Listening in. Pausing. Taking a breath.
When was the last time you did that?
And this weekend, I want to offer you something simple - something that doesn’t take time or money - but that might just feel like a quiet exhale in the middle of your full life.
Weekend Self-Care: Do Nothing for 10 Minutes
That’s it.
Just nothing.
Not scrolling. Not planning. Not reading.
Not being productive or mindful or doing breathwork or journalling.
Just… nothing.
Set a timer for 10 minutes and sit. Or lie on the floor. Or lie on the bed while your toddler naps next to you.
Let your body be heavy.
Let your thoughts wander.
Let yourself rest - not with purpose, but with permission.
You don’t need to fix anything.
You don’t need to use the time well.
You get to just be.
So why bother with something so simple, you might ask?
In homeopathy, I’m always looking for the part of someone that’s overdoing, overgiving, or overcompensating - because those patterns often point to the remedy they need.
But sometimes, what someone needs more than a remedy is a pause.
A moment where they’re not being useful. Not problem-solving. Not holding it all together.
And in that moment - the nervous system recalibrates.
The deeper truth rises up.
The body remembers it’s safe.
Journal Prompts for Real Self-Care
If you feel called, here are a few gentle questions to meet yourself with this weekend - no pressure, just something to ponder if you wish:
What part of me is asking to slow down?
What do I crave when no one else is asking anything of me?
Where in my life do I feel most held right now?
What does enough look like for me this week?
If my body could speak, what would it say?
You don’t need a 30-step routine or a wellness overhaul to care for yourself.
Sometimes it starts with one soft “no.”
One deep breath.
One moment of stillness where you let the world spin without you.
That’s enough.
And you are, too.
With love from my quiet corner to yours,
Kirsty x
